CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Virginia Sprouse Walls, 86, of 403 Kings Drive passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Walls was born in Catawba County, NC on May 28, 1927 a daughter of the late William Sprouse and Georgia Hartsoe Sprouse. She worked at Lincoln County Hospital and most of her career was spent at Dr. Cronland's office in Lincolnton where she retired as a nurse. Mrs. Walls lived the past four years in Newport News, Virginia with her daughter Iris. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a part of the Points of Grace, a knitting ministry. She was also a member of Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Ladies Auxillary and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Cherryville and the Young at Heart group. Mrs. Walls was a very loving, caring woman whose passions included, cooking for her family and friends. She was very artistic, always working on some kind of craft project. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George C. Walls, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Williams and husband Tommy of Norwood; Iris Ann Walls of Cherryville; two sons, George Richard Walls and wife Shirley of Waco and Ronald Dean Walls and wife Becky of Cherryville. She was also blessed by the lives of eight grandchildren and spouses, 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and also her two furry friends, Dixie Lee and Daisy Mae. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 12:30 to 1:45PM at First United Methodist Church in Cherryville and other times the family will be at the home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Fite officiating. Burial will be Private.
