William Fredrick Seals

HAMPTON - William Fredrick Seals, 83, died Sunday, July 14, 2013. A native of Spearfish, SD, he had been a Hampton resident since 1967. He served in the US Air Force from 1948-1952 and then went to work for the Dept. of the Army in 1955, retiring as Supervisory Program Analyst from TRADOC at Fort Monroe in 1993 after 38 years of service. He was a past President and active member of the Peninsula Chapter of NARFE and played the drums with many area bands including stage, jazz, big band and jug music. Preceded in death by his grandson, Stevie Scotten; survivors include his wife, Diane M. Seals; his son, Bill Seals and his wife, Linda of Texas; two daughter, Lisa Mease and her husband, Doug of Virginia and Julie Scotten and her husband, Steve of Indiana; his brother, Loren Pogreba and his wife, Jan of Nebraska; and five granddaughters, Angela, Kristen, Nicole, Sara, and Emily. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 19, 2013 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel. Interment with Air Force honors will be at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. State Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
