Windell Wayne De Gay MSG USA Ret.

NEWPORT NEWS - Windell Wayne De Gay, 74, of Newport News passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2013. A native of Georgia, he was a Newport News resident for ten years. Windell retired from the U.S. Army as a MSG after 20 years of service where he had served in Vietnam and was a recipient of a bronze star. He was a Master Masonic and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jeannine C. De Gay; sons, Jean-David De Gay and Jean-Louis De Gay; sisters, Edna Braden and her husband, Edith Evanakoff and her husband, and Nadine Burchfield; brothers, Chester Gay and his wife, Winston Gay and his wife, and Cecil Gay; and two grandchildren, Adam and Andrew. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 7 at 12 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Windell's name may be made to Make A Difference Fund 608 Denbigh Blvd., Suite 700 Newport News, VA 2308. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
