Ashley SMITH Obituary
Ashley was a 1945 graduate of Hampton High School; a graduate of Coyen Electrical School in Chicago; and a WWII Navy veteran. He retired from N.A.S.A. in Systems Engineering, and later from the City of Hampton in Codes & Compliance. He enjoyed woodworking and his automobiles.
Ashley was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Bergbom Smith; second wife, Alease Heath Smith; and his constant companions, Phillippe I and Phillippe II.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Smith Schofield of Jackson, N.J., Mark R. Smith of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Rebecca Louis of Richmond; his brother, Leon A. Smith of Yorktown; a grandchild, Stephanie Bennett (Travis); great-grandchildren, Alaina and Brayden Bennett; and sisters-in-law, Florine Thomas, Thelma Spikes (Elmer), Elizabeth Cunningham (Melvin), Lou Heath, and Patricia Shelton (Eddie).
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, by the Rev. Milford C. Rollins.

Ashley Smith, was just like a Dad growing up. Terri and I spent our weekends and summer all through school together and he was always there, reminding us to take care of our cars. Taking us to the movies. He will be missed dearley. Rest in Peace.
