William MOORE Obituary

POQUOSON - William H. "Bill" and "Pop" Moore Jr., 70, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, went home to be with His Lord and Savior Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010.
He served in the United States Army and was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton. Bill retired after 35 years of service at BAE Systems as a Materials Controller Supervisor. He had three loves in his life: his walk with the Lord, spending time with his family to include the grandchildren's baseball games, softball games, and snow skiing, and capturing all those memories with his cameras. "Pop" was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to Andy, Megan and Hannah. "He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him".
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alma Linda Bunting and William Herbert Moore Sr.; and brother-in-law, Asa Shaw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jane Palmer Moore; a daughter, Barbara Moore Hibbs and husband, Tom; three grandchildren, Andy Hibbs, Megan Hibbs, and Hannah Hibbs; two sister, Jean Shaw and Linda Ridenhour and husband, Dick; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home by the Rev. Joe Hunt. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton with military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666. Online condolences to www.claytorrollins.com. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

My condolences to Mr Moore's family. I worked many years at Norshipco with Bill and we always enjoyed talking about our skiing vacations. My wife and I were lucky enough to ski with Bill at several ski resorts through the years and I will always remember the excitement that he showed when skiing with family and friends.

The BEST words to describe Mr. Bill Moore is I remember him being such a gentle & kind man. He was one of the very first people I met at the shipyard (then known as "Norshipco") when I first started in 2000. It's sad to hear he has gone on; however it is SO sweet to know that he served the Lord and is now dancing in heaven. It gives my heart great peace in knowing this. I pray that all of Mr. Moore's family be resting in HIS peace right now. Blessings to you all. ~Katieh~ Co-worker (and sis in Christ).

I worked with Bill at "NORSHIPCO" for many years and he was truly a remarkable individual. It has been a while since seeing him but he has been sorely missed since he retired. He showed a lot of compassion to me when my 14 year old granddaughter passed away, and for that I will always be greatful. My prayers are with you and your family. May GOD bless you and keep you in his care.

Today I am filled with deep sadness but also with happy memories of growing up next-door to W.H., Linda and Jean. You always felt like more than friends and neighbors. You felt like family, and you still do. To all of the family we send our love and deepest sympathy.
