William HYER Obituary
He dedicated his life to his country, joining the Air Force in 1954, where he found his first real home. After 22 years of exemplary service, he began a new career as a civil servant in National Security, retiring in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Lindsay Richard Hyer.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Hyer; his son, Steven Hyer, (Cleburne, Texas), daughter, Amanda Cunningham (Hampton, Va.), son, Matthew Cunningham (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.), stepsons, Michael Remy (Newport News, Va.), and Scott Remy (Tunkhannock, Pa.), stepdaughter, Kim Parks (Berwick, Pa.); seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Monday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home, 251 Richneck Road, Newport News, Va. Services will be Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home, with interment to follow at A.G. Horton Memorial Veteran's Cemetery, Suffolk, Va., at 1:30 p.m.

Sharon and family of a great man Mr. WIlliam E. Hyer. The Security & Safety family send a heart felt sarrow for your loss. MR. Hyer was always addressed as such. He was an is a dedicated man to whomever or whatever he was doing. I can say with conviction, When Mr. Hyer says: I am ready to meet my maker" He will be early or on time and prepared to meet our maker. Mr. Hyer will be misswed but he joins a host of others now with no pain in a joyfull place.
