James NEWSOME Obituary
He was a native of Mobile, Ala., and a resident of Newport News. 'Lil James' was a member of the United States Air Force, where he retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Newsome; sister, Barbara Jean Newsome; maternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Jessie McGee; and paternal grandparents, Helzie and Jessie Newsome.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Jamonica Newsome Wiggins of Mobile; two sons, Jarrod V. Newsome of Mobile and Derek Newsome of Hampton; a wife, Doris Newsome of Hampton; devoted mother and father, Deacon James and Unive Harris of Mobile; three brothers, Raymond Newsome of Los Angeles, Calif., Richard Newsome and Theotis (Geri) Harris, all of Mobile; two sisters, Therzine Newsome and Shelia (Michael) Lucky of Mobile; seven aunts; five uncles; one devoted Rev. Eugene (LeCola) McGee of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren in Mobile; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, also at the funeral home with burial to follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.

I am so sorry for your familys loss. I just found out about James from another friend of ours. I worked with James for about 8 years with GA. He was a trusted employee, friend and someone I could count on to get the job done and have a smile when I pulled on to his prooperty. He is missed and will be missed always.

My children and I have grown to love and care about James, who was our maintenance man and friend. He always had a sense of humor,
loved children and always had something pleasant to say when he came around. For such a small man he had a huge appetite. James was a multi-talented indivdual. We will truly miss him and we offer our condolences to his family. Darlene Branch&Family(Newport News, Va.

James called me his daughter! I have been knowing him for over 10 years now and visited him frequently; acknowledging holidays and birthdays with him as well. He was really a good person and friend to all; he would do anything to help others. I will really miss him, as he was just like a father to me. My condolences are with the family during this time.

May God be with You and the Family at this time. James was a dear Highschool friend. I had had often wondered where he had went when we graduated. I'm very sorry about the loss of your loved one. I did not know him personally but it seems like I did. I'm best friends with his youngest son, Derek and thru him and his many stories of his dad makes me feel like I know him. To the family and to my best friend Derek, keep your heads up, look to the hills from whence cometh your help... your help comes from the Lord. Let him guide and direct your paths and comfort you during your time of berevement. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God continue to bless you all and may Heaven smile upon you.
