Jean KUTSCH Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Jean Ellen Kutsch, 82, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home on Jan. 5, 2011. Jean was born April 28, 1928, in Wheeling, W.Va.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Reynolds; and one older brother, Robert.
Jean married Jack Kutsch on Nov. 21, 1947. Together they had six children. During the Great Depression Jean was taught to be strong, prudent, caring and helpful. She will always be remembered by her children for that strength, her convictions and desire for everyone to be successful and happy in their lives.
In between being Mom and Granny, Jean and her husband, Jack founded and operated Kutsch Carpets, formally located on Denbigh Boulevard in Newport News. Her love for children will always be the greatest memory her children share. An expert at newborns, she knew the tricks that every mom should know. That gift continues to be passed on through the generations of Jean's family.
Jean is survived by her sons, Michael Kutsch, daughter-in-law, Linda Kutsch whom Jean considered with great love a daughter; daughters, Judy Higgins and her husband, John, Pam Fahey and her husband, Martin, Nancy Shalvey and her husband, Keith, Amy Mason and her husband, Steve; and son, Andy Kutsch. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Please join the family on Jan. 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. for a service that will be a 'Celebration of Life Mass' held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church located on Harpersville Road. Jean will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
