Jimmy D'ERRICO Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Jimmy D'Errico passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010.
Jimmy was born in Niles, Ohio, and was a Newport News resident for 63 years. He retired from the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad as a tug boat captain in 1981. Jimmy was an avid golfer and bowler for much of his life. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as the Knights' Financial Secretary for many years. Jimmy was the first president of the Peninsula Italian-American Club and a member of the Ti Amo Club.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Philomena D'Errico.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Romaine Grice D'Errico; beloved daughters, Catherine Sullivan, Lynne Garrison (Robert), and Sharon Lilley (Dexter); and wonderful grandchildren, Sam Garrison (Shannette) and Jessica Lilley. Jimmy is also survived by his cherished sister, Grace Demetruk; dear brothers, Nick D'Errico and Sam D'Errico Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to recognize Jimmy's many close friends for their years of support and love.
A viewing at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, in the chapel, followed by a funeral mass at noon. After the mass, a brief graveside ceremony will be held in Peninsula Memorial Park with family receiving friends afterwards at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Nettles Drive.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 100 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA 23601.
