I first meet Bill and Ruth Bohn in August 1972 when I arrived at Ft. Eustis. They both greeted us with kindness, warmth and beautiful smiles. Bill and Ruth became our dear friends. Bill always had a big smile, a gentle nature,a kind and caring heart. He was always a good listener. I am thankful Bill's presence touched my life.

I am a nurse at the Newport. As I washed his face with a cold washcloth and cleaned his mouth with swabs and prayed over him that morning,I saw gentleness and kindness in his eyes and I felt the presence of God with him waiting to take him home.

Bill was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He always had a smile even if he wasn't feeling his best. The love and affection that you two had for each other was easily seen by all just by watching how you looked at each other. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Ruth and family, When Mom (Dorothy) called last night, I began to remember your visits to Conneaut to see Aunt Lene and my grandma and grandpa. Mom always made sure we came over because she absolutely had to see you all. I always enjoyed those visits and felt a bit bereft when you left, knowing that I had just gotten acquainted once again and now you would be off once more to exciting places. (I still have a metal tin that came from Nurnberg full of cookies for Aunt Lene. I begged her for it because it was so interesting and had come from such an exotic place!) I remember Bill as being such a gracious and kind man. I have always held a high opinion of the men and women who serve our country, and I truly believe this opinion is rooted in my first experience of knowing Bill and what kind of person he was. I am sorry for your loss, but I am so glad that you were blessed with him as husband and father. May God surround you with loving family and friends at this time. May you find comfort in sharing with each other the memories of a life well-lived.
