John Burcham Obituary

TOANO - John Rawlin Burcham Sr., 78, of Toano, passed away Sept. 13, 2009.
Rawlin was an avid outdoorsman, gardener and fisherman. He was a faithful member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #757. Rawlin was a veteran of the Korean War, and retired from the CSX Railroad after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his longtime loving companion, Bea Strode; four sons, Jeff (Nanette), Mark (Crystal), J.R. (Karen), and Bart Burcham (Debi); one daughter, Ronda Smith (Mike); one brother, Eugene "Chuck" Burcham (Belva); one sister, Ethel Hicks; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Faith Fellowship Church, Toano, with a service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the James City Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, 3135 Forge Road Toano, VA 23168. Condolensces can be registered at www.vincentfh.com View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
