GLOUCESTER POINT - Alvin Foster Auringer, Jr., 87, formerly of Richmond, Va. went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2013 at New Mark Care Center in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the US Navy during World War II and retired as a rate analyst for CSX Railways in Richmond. Alvin was a longtime member of Westhampton Baptist Church, Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mattie Allen Auringer; his dear wife, Martha Ann Carson Auringer; and sister, Dorothy Berkeypile. He is survived by daughter, Debbie Jones and husband, Mike of Liberty, Mo.; son, Alvin Foster Auringer III and wife, Gail of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Katie Allenbaugh, Michael Jones, Samuel Auringer and Nathan Auringer; nine great grandchildren; sister, Mary Weassel; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services officiated by Rev. Dr. William Hardison will be held 1p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment with military honors will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
