Alice M. Randall

WILLIAMSBURG - Alice Marie Cooke Randall departed this life on Oct. 23, 2009, in Mary Immaculate Hospital.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Sidney and Florence Cooper Cooke.
She began her spiritual journey at the family's home church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, in Williamsburg, Va. Later in life she joined hands in fellowship and became a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She served her church as a member of the Deaconess Board and the Missionary Board.
Alice graduated from Bruton Heights School in Williamsburg and later attended St. Paul's Collage, Lawrenceville, Va. She also matriculated at the College of William & Mary. For 13 years, she was a devoted employee for Colonial Williamsburg at the Williamsburg Information Center. However, her special love was always for children and for 10 years she was employed as a substitute teacher in the Williamsburg-James City County Public School District.
She also was a member of the NAACP, the Household of Ruth, the Retired Teachers Association, Oak Grove School Alumni and Bruton Heights School Alumni. She was a kind and loving person, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Randall; and three siblings, Charlie Cooke, Estelle Cooke Wallace and Sadie Cooke Bobbitt.
Her loving memories will be cherished by her sister, Geraldine Cooke Wallace, of Williamsburg; her brother-in-law, William R. Wallace, of Williamsburg; her sisters-in-law, Fayetta Wynne (Thurman), of Croaker, and Flora Randall, of Williamsburg; niece, grand and great-grandnieces, nephews, grand and great-grandnephews; godchild, Sheila Wallace, of Hampton; other caring relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Dr. Sharon E. Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Randall may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home.
