Allen PUGH Obituary

CHESAPEAKE - Allen M. Pugh Sr., 92, a lifelong resident of Hampton, Va., was born May 8, 1918, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday Nov. 19, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Gertrude C. Pugh; his parents, Luther and Sarah Pugh; three brothers, William Pugh, Zephaniah Pugh Sr., and Joseph Pugh Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Edith Miller.
Mr. Pugh honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War ll. As a civilian, he retired from the Transportation School at Fort Eustis in 1981. He attended George P. Phenix High School and the Evans- Smith Leadership Training Institute, where he receives a certificate in Religious Studies.
Before he became ill, Mr. Pugh was a faithful member and Deacon of Queen Street Baptist Church. He served in numerous ministries and committees throughout the years. He was also a WPM of Eastern Star Lodge #13 of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan Ingram Wilson (Jerry); two sons, Allen Pugh Jr., and Robert Pugh; two grandchildren, Sheleah Tarlton (Boyd), and Jamel Ingram; great-grandsons, Isaac and Elijah Tarlton; a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends, who will greatly miss him.
A homegoing service will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 26, at Queen Street Baptist Church, 98 Armistead Avenue, Hampton, where Mr. Pugh will be placed by 9 a.m. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will assemble by 11:30 a.m., at the church. Remains rest at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, where a viewing will be on Wednesday, Nov. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m., at 545 E. Prayers go out to the family and church family. It touched my heart when Uncle Allen and Deacon Terry came to visit my mother and prayed for her when she ill. A true servant of God and a great role model. Family May God Continue to Bless You and Give You PEACE+
