Angela Amatulli Lieblein Obituary
NEWPORT NEWS - Angela "Angel" Amatulli Lieblein, 85, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. Angel was born on June 15, 1927 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to the late Domenic A. Amatulli and wife Mary Mottola Amatulli. She was graduated from Mount Union High School in 1945 and from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1949. After graduating from Shippensburg State she began her teaching career at Buckroe Jr. High School in Hampton, Va. On July 7, 1951 Angel married First Lt. Donald E. Orr, USAF, in Mount Union Pennsylvania and accompanied him on several assignments including Hurlbert Field from 1951-1952, Eglin AFB in Florida from 1955-1958 and two assignments at RAF Sculthorpe in Norfolk, UK from 1952-1955 and 1958-1962. After divorcing in 1965, Angel returned to Hampton, Virginia to resume her teaching career at Jefferson Davis High School until retirement in 1991. On March 25, 1972 she married LTC Joseph T. Lieblein, USA "Duster," who preceded her in death in November 2008. Angel was a proud member of The Nation Education, Virginia Education and the Hampton Education Associations, the Peninsula Fine Arts Center, Woman's Club of Newport News, Officers' Wives' Club, a lifetime member of the PTA, the Hampton Retired Teachers Association, and a Bronze Door Member of the Mariner's Museum, as well as a season ticket holder of the Virginia Opera Company. She also served on the board of the Newport News for 12 years. Angel is survived by her daughters, Andrea Marie Orr and husband Mark D. Hana of Ashburn, Va., Leslie Carol Lieblein, and Maredith Lorrain Collier of Chester, Va.; sisters, Gloria J. Amatulli, Joseph Marie deCristofaro and husband Dr. Domenico deCristofaro of Desenzano del Garda, Italy. A Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, March 9 at 4 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home with visitation following service until 6 p.m. Burial will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
