Angela BUTTERFIELD Obituary
Angie was born in Mobile, Ala., on May 27, 1959. She grew up in Hampton, Va., and was a 1977 Bethel High School graduate. After graduation, she pursued a career in the legal field. Angie was employed by the Newport News City Attorney's Office in 1979. She dedicated 31 years of service as a legal administrative assistant. In 1997, Angie was named the City of Newport News' Employee of the Month. She was an active member of the Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association and the Local Government Paralegal Association of Virginia, Inc.
Angie was a devoted wife to Stan Butterfield and a proud and loving mother to her precious daughter, Sarah Elizabeth. Also left to honor her memory are her loyal sisters, Pam Morgan and her husband, Kenny, Missy McKeel and her husband, Richie; her sweet nieces, Sharyl Gruchow and her husband, Trevor, Stefanie Hogge and her husband, Jeff, Lauren and Lindsay McKeel, and a host of family and friends.
Angie had a great love for life and never met a stranger. She enjoyed the beach, snow skiing and reading, but most of all spending time with her daughter, Sarah.
Our heartfelt thanks and great appreciation to Dr. Daynelle Dedmond for the professional care, kindness and compassion she showed to Angie during her brief illness.
Her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Temple Baptist Church, 235 Harpersville Road, Newport News, Va. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Stan, Sarah, Pam and Missy: I still cannot believe that Angie has left us. I know that she is in a better place, free from pain. What can you say about a beautiful 51 year old girl in so little space? My heart goes out to Sarah, Stan, Pam & Missy. I'm missing all of our fun times together; I could have never asked for a "better friend" in the world than Angie! She was such a special person to many people and it is so hard already just dealing with the reality of losing her. I know she'll be waiting to show me around up there; she'll say "you're not going to believe this place." See you then my friend!

I am grateful to have so many memories of Angie as a little girl. She had grown into such a lovely, responsible woman that was loved by friends and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Angie for thirty years and she had the sweetest personality of anyone I had evert met. She always had a big smile of her face and she would always say "what's up girl" We, the girls of FMI will miss Angie. Angie was a petite person, with a big smile and personality, to go with it. I used to tease her about having to sit on a pillow, so she could see in her big truck! Many people believe in Angels, few actually have known one. I have been blessed to have known two Angels on this earth, my wife and Angie Wall. Both were Angels on earth, both were part of my life and both have been tragically taken from us. My memories of Angie will always be with a smile, a laugh, a love for life and people. Angie and I were friends, confidants and cheerleaders together at Bethel High School. For such a petite person she was larger than life. My heart goes out to everyone for the loss of a great person. I remember so many good times. Whenever Angie was there it was always a fun. She had a way of making people laugh that you can not explain. She was small and sassy and I always loved that about her. She was a wonderful mother and a great person.
