Arlene E. ASHBY Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Arlene E. Ashby was called by God from labor to rest on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in the Envoy Convalescent Center.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1941, the fourth child of 12 children born to the late Elizabeth and John Piggott of James City County, Va. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended the Williamsburg/James City County Public Schools. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Williamsburg. She was employed for many years at the residence of Joel Shepphard.
Arlene was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Kenneth Ashby. Unto this union, they were blessed with seven loving children. She will be greatly missed, but we find comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her children, McKenneth T. Ashby (Rosa), Rev. Lucinda P. Rivers (Sidney), Kervin R. Ashby, Dea. Ricky L. Ashby (Arlene), Ellery A. Ashby (Jennifer), Terrence L. Ashby (Yulonda), and Sherri O. Ashby; her 10 grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her sister, Cora A. Brown; her brothers, Robert Piggott, Morris Piggott, and Hurley Piggott; a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble by noon Friday, at 125 Woodside Drive. Mrs. Ashby may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
