Arline Bowmer

WILLIAMSBURG - Arline Hollins Bowmer of Williamsburg, formerly of Lanexa, Va., passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2009, at Consulate Health Care of Williamsburg.
She will be remembered as a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church for more than 80 years. She served on many committees and played the church organ for many years.
She enjoyed her work and her co-workers at James City County and headed up the Accounts Payable Department; she retired in December 1976.
Arline enjoyed volunteering as a Candy Striper at Williamsburg Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B. Stephen Bowmer Jr.
She is survived by her son, B. Stephen Bowmer III and his wife, Judy. She will be remembered by her three grandchildren, Douglas and Ronnie of Williamsburg and Debbie Garrett of Orlando, Fla.; her four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy H. Priddy, of Montpelier, Va.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, Va. A funeral service will be held on at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa, with interment following in the church cemetery.
