Audrey EDWARDS Obituary
She was born and raised in Spring Hope, N.C., the middle of seven children, and has been a Peninsula resident since the mid-1940's. Mrs. Edwards was a long-term and active member of North Riverside Baptist Church. She loved gardening, bridge and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kermit A. Edwards, and is survived by one daughter, Anne Proctor and her husband, Mason, of Newport News; one son, William K. Edwards and his wife, Grace, of Bristow; one sister, Maxine Whitley of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one brother, Jarvis W. Edwards of Hampton; three grandchildren, Cassie Proctor and her fiancE, Thomas McKeel, Sarah Duncan and her husband, Alan, and George W. Edwards; and one great-granddaughter, Aryanna Proctor.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at North Riverside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to North Riverside Baptist Church, Building Fund, 311 Selden Road, Newport News, VA 23606.

Dear Edwards Family,
You are in our prayers and thoughts at this time of your loss..
May our God surround each of you with comfort and peace.
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
I will miss her sitting next to me in Sunday School and holding her hand at the close of the lesson as we prayed our scripture verse. I will remember her smile, laughter, words of encouragment and the memories of her family she would tell us about most every Sunday.

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I came to know both your mother and father in a professional capacity and admired them both very much for their strength in the face of adversity. Your mother called me over the years and I helped in any way that I could. She was a lovely and gracious lady.
