Aurzelia BANKS Obituary
Aurzelia was born on March 31, 1943, to the late Louis Milton and Robertha Simmons Wilmore in York County, Va.
She had five siblings. She was proceeded in death by two brothers, Aaron Whitaker and Early Whitaker (Rachel). She leaves to cherish her memory, Bertha Loraine McLaughlin of York County, Va., Elfreda W. Wynder of Newport News, Va., and Louis M. Wilmore Jr. (Elaine) of Detroit, Mich.
A lifelong resident of York County, she was educated in the public school systems graduating from James Weldon Johnson HS, Class of 1961. She also attended Thomas Nelson Community College.
On June 24, 1961, Aurzelia married her high school sweetheart, Alfras Banks and from this union three children were born, Adrian Nevada (Odelia) of Hampton, Va., Steven Leo (TeLisa Owens), and Benita Aurzelia (Dwain Jenkins) both of York County.
Aurzelia's career as a civil servant began at the York County Sheriffs Dept and the DMV. She then moved on to the Department of Defense at Fort Eustis, Va., where she retired after serving 23 years.
A viewing will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home at 251 W. Queen St, Hampton, Va. The Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Victory Life Outreach Center, 1741 W. Queen St., Hampton, Va., followed by interment at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
