Benjamin McVAY Obituary
He was born Nov. 14, 1951, was a loving husband, faithful friend, a crazy brother, a devoted son, a wild uncle, a good father, a really cool grandfather, a grass cutting fool and an ole school biker. He loved his wife, his momma, family, and children. He loved summertime, camping, his Panhead, swap meets, flashlights, frozen root beer, the garage gang, his dogs 'Shy' and 'Jr,' and one of the cats. But most of all, he loved God.
Mr. McVay is survived by his wife of 22 years, Maureen "Kevin" McVay; mother, Ruth Pencola McVay; three sons, Melvin Byrd and wife, Michelle, Joel McVay and wife, Oleather, Michael Chamberlain and wife, Lucy; a daughter, Crystal Shannon Bower; five grandchildren, Sabrina, Sarafina, and Malcolm Byrd, Makena and Ava Chamberlain; four nephews, Cory, D.J., and Tony McVay, and Ryan Moberley; a niece, Serena Moberley; a brother, Donald James McVay and wife, Debbie; and a sister, Marie McVay and her friend, Mark Greene.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 9227 River Road, Matoaca, Va., with the retired Rev. James Taylor officiating.
Weather permitting, all those who can, please ride your motorcycles. Requested dress attire is blue jeans, black shirts, and leathers, no ties allowed.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Mid Atlantic Pug Rescue.

He was a great friend, we both had panheads, we were friends because we knew each other was solid and few people rode old antique motorcycles and we both loved ours. I had a passion, and still do, for flashlights something we both shared. He was more than a friend he was a BROTHER. I still miss him. I hope Kevin is doing alright.

He was a Wonderful father-in-law, a Wonderful "Paw Paw" and a Wonderful friend! Im gonna miss him always! Kevin you are a Wonderful mother-in-law and friend! I couldnt have asked for a more wonderful family! He will always be Makena and Ava's guardian angel! Love You!

My heartfelt sympathy to Kevin, Joel, family and friends. May the Lord richly bless your spirit with fond memories of your beloved "Mac." I was his customer for nearly ten years and found him to be not only the "best landscaper" I ever knew, but a really friendly cool guy. I was stunned and saddened to hear of his passing only this morning when I called for his lawn care services. While he will be sorely missed, I know his spirit will live on forever! I feel so blessed to have known him.

Kevin, Chuck and I was so sadden to have heard about Ben, he was a great person and a devoting husband and father and acouse a wonderful grandfather. I'll never forget the first time I meet Ben out back at the office you introduce me to him and I went to shake his hand and he told me Oh No Girl I don't do hand shakes I only Hug Women.I always thought the world of Ben he was one of a kind. I was so happy the day you told me that Ben had found room for God in his life. I know now that he is being taken very good care of just like you did all those years. The world lost a very good friend today. 12-5-09. Mac was my backdoor neighbor and one of the best neighbors anyone could have. He was always beating and banging on something in his garage. Hard worker, great friend and I'm really going to miss him alot! He always had a way of making you feel important and special. Kevin, I hope you know, Me, Keith & Casey are always here for you!
