Bernice BOONE Obituary
Bernice was born on Jan. 17, 1916, in Charles City, Va., and lived in Hampton for 63 years. She was married to Elijah Boone. Though she had no children of her own, Bernice was a mother to many. She was an active member of Emmanuel Chapel Church of Christ Holiness USA, in Hampton, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Boone.
Surviving family members who are left with fond memories include two sisters, Alice B. Maxwell of New York, N.Y., and Edna Lomax of Hampton; four sisters-in-law; nieces, Leona Maxwell Taylor (Calvin) of Charles City, Va., and Bernice 'Billie' Williams (David) of Bronx, N.Y.; great-niece, Monique Foster Matthew (Uchendu) of Laurel, Md.; and a great-nephew, Salam Foster of Charles City; a host of other family and friends.
The viewing will be held 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Emmanuel Chapel Church of Christ Holiness USA in Hampton, Va. Burial to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Aunt Bert! I will miss your visits home to the country, I will miss our Conversations, The Laughter, The Tears, The Letters, and The Prayers. You were the "Matriarch" of this Family. You saw to everyones needs, most of all you saw that we all knew what the Word of God was. I will not mourn your passing, instead i will celebrate a Life that was lived to its fullest. To: Sis. Lomax & Monquie and the rest of the family. Know that I loved Sis. Boone. She was a wonderful woman of God. We will miss her smile and her laugh and her wonderful hug she gave me each time I came across her path. She has finish her course and now She is free from pain and i belieive God has been please with her life. And with that i know that He is welcoming her home.
