Bert BREWER Obituary

MCGAHEYSVILLE - Bert Wilton Brewer, 83, of McGaheysville, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at his home.
Bert was born in Gilliam, Ariz., on Nov. 18, 1926, and was a son of the late Dee L. Brewer and Ola (Wright) Gentry. He was the owner of Mechanical Refrigeration in Newport News, Va., and retired in 1985. He was a member of the Port Republic United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of the Rion Bowman VFW post in Harrisonburg; the Rockingham Union #27 Masonic Lodge; the Acca Shriners; and the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He served in the Pacific Theatre U.S. Navy in WW II and the Korean War.
On Oct. 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Doris Lee (Blosser) Brewer, who survives. Bert is also survived by two sons, Glenn E. Brewer of Lynchburg, and Keith L. Brewer and wife, Faith of Penn Laird; a sister, Gladys Kirk of Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Earl Brewer of Fayetteville, N.C., and Gerald Brewer of Altus, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Levi and Sara Brewer.
A graveside service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 4, 2010, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg, with the Rev. David Palmer officiating. Friends may call at the home or the funeral home anytime.

Doris and Kieth I always will remember the warm welcome and care Bert showed me when I first arrived in the neiborhood/ Shannon was treated like a daughter and remembers the attention Bert and the family showed her. Years have passed and contacts have been lost but the memory of the Brewer Family will alwayd remain with the Gabany Family/ Tony, Chris and Shannon Gabany
