Bill SMITH Obituary
He was born in Bath, N.C., and had made his home on the Peninsula for the past 50 years. He retired as an electrician with the IBEW Local #1340 and was a member of Langley Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bev Smith; his children, Rich and Dena; his brother, Carl; and three grandchildren, Sean, Tifani and Arianne.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home by Pastor Matt Scott with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park with military honors. I know Bill has been assigned as God's chosen one to bless Heaven's Children as the Easter Bunny! Can you imagine?
After witnessing last Easter's festivities when Bill transformed into Papa Bunny, playfully hiding egss all over the yard...anticipating the grand arrival of the treasure hunters (Sean, Arianne, Tifani), I strongly beleive he'll continue the tradition in God's Kingdom.
Bill's expressions were priceless--his eyes glistening with joy, tickled by the fun he created, appreciating the the hunters' excitement as they dashed here, poked there, reached high, peeked under, their bags bulging with eggs of all sizes.
After the hunt, he prepared a place for each hunter to examine their eggs, open each at their leisure, and watch chocolates, candies, and money spill out!
I love that Easter memory and I love that Easter Bunny who reminded me 'to accept the kingdom like a little child'.
Can you see it...next Easter, Papa Bunny is going to plan the hugest, most magnificent Easter Egg Hunt ever, filling sparkling eggs with God's treasures...and we know that the angels, and anyone else around him will be tasked to help hide those eggs!
Thank you so much for including me in Papa's Easter tradition!

Dear Papa's Grandchildren, Sean, Tifani, and Arianne
We know this is a huge sadness for you and we share in the loss of your Papa. May God give you strength to help you through this difficult time.
Each of you were extremely blessed to be loved by him. Papa inspired you and was a great inspiration by the way he worked and lived his life.
We saw how proud he was of you and how special each of you were to him.
Cherished memories of his warm smile, wisdom, and loving ways will live in your hearts. We know you will miss him so much.

Dear Bev,
During this difficult time, you're in our hearts and prayers. We ask God to comfort you and give you strength to ease your sorrow, to replace it with loving memories.
We're privileged that God chose to bless us with Bill's friendship, and that he was the beloved Papa to our grand daughter, Arianne.
We're extremely saddened by his passing and share this difficult time with you. However, we always knew he held a special place for his family; he was a very proud husband, father and grandfather (Papa).
May God give you peace and comfort at this time of sorrow and in the knowledge that he is with his Heavenly Father looking down on his family with love.
We will cherish all our fond memories of him.

Bev, I am so sorry for you, but I know God knows what he is doing and Bill will be in wonderful hands! It is a loss that will be hard, but you and your family were lucky to know and love such a wonderful man. Bill will be missed. Dear Bev,
I know that words are inadequate at a time like this but I wanted you to know how very sorry I am for your loss. The loss of a spouse is a tragic event and I know the pain and suffering you are experiencing.
It is times like this that our faith is put to the test. We know that we must accept his passing and give thanks for the wonderful life he lived. As sad as it will be, we will always have the memory of him to hold in our hearts.
The Bible reminds us that "Blessed are those that mourn for they shall be comforted." I pray that this will be especially true for you as you mourn your loss.

Dear Bev, We were so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a good friend whom I and others called affectionately "Little Smitty". There was nothing little about Bill's personality, he could spark a room with his dry humor and Bill loved the Lord. To My Dearest Family:
Some things I'd like to say
but first of all to let you know
that I arrived okay
I'm writing this from Heaven
where I dwell with God above
where there's no more tears
or sadness there
is just eternal love
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight
remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night
That day I had to leave you
when my life on Earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said I welcome you
It's good to have you back again
you were missed while you were gone
as for your dearest family
they'll be here later on

as part of My big plan
there's so much that we have to do
to help our mortal man
Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do
and foremost on that list of mine
is to watch and care for you
And I will be beside you

And when you lie in bed at night
the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you
in the middle of the night
When you think of my life on Earth
and all those loving years
because you're only human
they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry
it does relieve the pain
remember there would be no flowers
unless there was some rain
I wish that I could tell you
of all that God has planned
but if I were to tell you
you wouldn't understand
But one thing is for certain
though my life on Earth is o're
I am closer to you now
than I ever was before
And to my very many friends
trust God knows what is best
I'm still not far away from you
I'm just beyond the crest
There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb
but together we can do it
taking one day at a time
It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too
that as you give unto the World
so the World will give to you
If you can help somebody
who is in sorrow or in pain
then you can say to God at night
my day was not in vain

that my life it was worthwhile
knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile
So if you meet somebody
who is down and feeling low
just lend a hand to pick him up
as on your way you go
