Billie RUSHING Obituary

YORK COUNTY - Billie H. Rushing, born July 14, 1936, died Aug. 5, 2010 at Riverside Hospital.
Billie was the son of the late Charlie C. and Mable Lee Rushing of Marshville, N.C. Preceding him in sleep were two brothers, Charles Rushing Jr., and Cleveland Rushing Sr.
Billie is survived by one son, Melvin Rushing; two daughters, Angela Rushing and Mrs. Ruby Jean Chambers of Marshville, N.C.; one grandson, Melvin Orlando; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Rushing (Linda), Claymon Rushing (Jackie), both of Newport News, Va., James Albert Rushing of Hampton, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Katie Lee Covington (Jadie) of Yorktown, Mrs. Vera Mae Marsh of Monroe, N.C., and the Rev. Rosetta M.C. Rushing of Hampton; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Billie attended Flint Ridge School in Marshville. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He had worked for Mr. Easton Howard over several years as a truck driver. His hobbies were playing the piano, gardening, fishing and hunting. He liked sharing and giving.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 10, 2010, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 3911 Big Bethel Road, Yorktown, VA 23693, hosted by pastor, Dr. Chamblee. The body will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Arrangements are by Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home of Hampton.
