Blanchard Robinson Obituary

HAMPTON - Blanchard Robinson, affectionately known as "Butchie" departed this life on Nov. 11, 2009. He was born June 19, 1952, the second child born to Blanche Robinson and Louis Robinson Sr.
Butchie was educated by Hampton City Schools. He served in the United States Army and worked at Fort Monroe and the Veterans Administration Hospital. He never complained about anything. Butchie lit up the room with his radiant smile and laughter. His humorous view of life was contagious and time spent in his presence was fun and lighthearted. Butchie loved his family very much.
He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Robinson; and stepfather, Alonzo Griffin.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his mother, Blanche Robinson; his daughter, Christal Weatherford King (Leon); his grandchildren, Javaughn and Christen King; five brothers, Louis Robinson (Charmaine), Willie Robinson (Denice), Michael Griffin (Angela), Everett Griffin (Karen), and Rufus Griffin (Hazel); two sisters, Ethel Hodges (Randy) and Alice Dowdell; a special aunt, Margaret Price; and uncle, Waverly Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate Butchie's life will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Greater Bethlehem Christian Assembly, 360 Ivy Home Road, Hampton. Butchie will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends will assemble by 11:30 a.m. at 111 Towler Drive, Hampton, for a procession to the church.
A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, followed with a family visitation from 5 to 6 p.m. at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, 545 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, 723-4117. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
