Byron HARROLD Obituary
He was born to the late Viola Hundley on Dec. 12, 1938, and raised by his grandparents, the late Christopher and Lucy Harrold. He was a lifelong resident of Hampton, Va.
He was a graduate of George P. Phenix class of 1957 and Norfolk State. He was a member of the Colonial Bucks Hunting Club and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Connie Moore Harrold; three daughters, Wanda Harrold of Severn, Md., Stephanie Harrold of Virginia Beach, Va., and Sharon Harrold of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, George Hundley (Carol) and Charles Hundley, of Hampton, Va.; one aunt, Margaret Howard, of Hampton, Va.; a devoted sister-in-law, Cynthia Golden.
He assisted in rearing Edward "Calvin Gibbs and Kiara Gibbs; seven great-nieces that he affectionately called his grandchildren, Queen, Courtney, Special, Alexis S., Diamond Alexis G. and Emani.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 3509 Chestnut Avenue, Newport News. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held today beginning at 2 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

I was saddened to hear about the death of your husband and father Mr. Bonnie Harold. After visiting with you I started to reflect on the memories that our families shared together. My sister La'Wanda and I always looked forward to visiting the Harold household. Thank you all for the good times we shared together. Mr. Bonnie Harold was a man that I always respected and I appreciated all of the kind and encouraging words that he gave me as a child and as a man. He did a wonderful job raising his girls and showed me how to love and honor a wife. Mrs. Connie the Boyd family will pray for you and come by and visit more frequently. We have always and still do love the Harolds! Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. TO Connie, Wanda, Stephanie and Sharon-and all the other girls in the family...I can not find words to express how saddened I am for your loss. Bonnie was my cousin but always added the "father" figure in the Taylor home--he will be truly missed and only God can fill the void that will be left from the absence of his earthly presence. At times like these all I can do is be there to show love and let you know that your big "sis" is here just call me and I will be there--as you all have always done for me. Bonny and I were friends since we were Classmates in Phenix High Class of 57. We played basketball against each other at the old Hampton Community Center. He attended most of events that the Class of 57 held. He will be missed by of all. Connie, you and the family hang in there. He is in the Lord's hands now. (Clarence & Connie Lassiter)
