December 6, 2009

I recently learned the sad news of Cahneewah's passing. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you – Pat, Aubrey, Dawn, Gus, Arica, Travis, and all other family members and friends.
I was fortunate enough to have known and loved Cahneewah many years ago. The Cahneewah I knew was a warm, caring, fun loving, and free spirited young woman. She had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile, and she always had time to listen. Cahneewah was always as extraordinary and unique as her name.
I considered Cahneewah one of my best friends for over a decade. I met her at Denbigh Baptist Church and we remained good friends throughout grade school, middle school, high school and a few years beyond. Although we eventually lost touch over the years I have never forgotten Cahneewah. If not for our friendship, I would never have met my husband of 30 years, nor would we have our two wonderful children. I met my husband Michael while visiting Cahneewah and Mark one evening, and the course of my life (and my happiness) took shape that day. For that reason, in addition to many others, Cahneewah has always remained in our thoughts and our hearts. We are thankful that Cahneewah was part of our lives, and now, more than ever, she will hold a special place in our hearts and our memories every Thanksgiving Day.

"Some people come into our lives,
leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never the same." Anonymous

God Bless you all – our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I first met Cahneewah back in 1971 when my 1st husband and I lived in the same apartments, she was always there as a friend when needed a joy to any one who knew her always a smile to share, we lost touch after that. Then many years ago she became a best friend to my mother Sandy,(it's a small world) Mom loved her so much and she was so wonderful to her and my brothers after I left state. I lost my mother a few years ago unexpectly also, Now the two can be together, tell mom I miss & love her so much.To her family I am so sorry for your loss, Gus is the only family member I recall, to her children she will always live in your hearts & will be watching over you.

I grew up next door to Cahneewah and still occasionally saw her when she stopped by my restaurant. I would proudly tell my customers that Neewah used to baby-sit me and my brother when we were kids. She was always such a fun-loving and giving person. My heart goes out to Pat and Aubrey, Alice, and to Gus and Dawn. Arica, I only met you and Travis once or twice, but I deeply feel your loss.

Cahneewah, I will miss you. Please say hello to my dad when you see him in heaven.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Cahneewah's untimely passing. We used to be next-door neighbors on Culpepper Avenue during the 1970's. Cahneewah was a wonderful person, loved by many, many people, and she will be sorely missed.

Dear Alice and Family,

I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter, mother, sister, grandmother -Cahneewah- I am not sure why God gives and takes away, but I am sure he had a good reason for taking Cahneewah away from all that loved her here on earth. I am sure Cahneewah is in a much better universe awaiting the day to be reunited with her family and friends. Hold strong until then and pray that God has her in his loving hands. God Bless all the people that knew this young woman.
