Carl GAZUREK Obituary
He was born in Bettendorf, Iowa, son of the late Frank and Agnes Gazurek. Carl was preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Stewart, Frances Shipp, Helen Tabb, and Betty Kelling.
Carl honorably served his country in WWII. He was a resident of Yorktown, Va., for 52 years, and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, after 20 years. He had a passion for God's natural world. Gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family brought him the greatest pleasure.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Betty Gazurek; one daughter, Diane Wilson, whom he considered his own; son-in-law, Jim Wilson; five grandchildren, Shannon Wynings, Laura Tecca, David Wilson, Lindsay Lawson, and Katie Wilson; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie McPherson and Louise Smith; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carl's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.1, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown, by the Rev. Jeff Mingee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church-Student Missions, 1004 Yorktown Road, Yorktown, VA 23693.

Words can not express how sad I was to hear about Uncle Carls death, was so shocked. He was the kind of man that we all knew would be around forever. He was a special part of mine, Sonny's and Kevin's life. Betty, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family in this difficult time.

Could not have asked for a better neighbor.....my kids are going to miss "Mr. Carl". We love you "Ms. Betty" and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Please let us know if there is anything you need.

Carl was a good Christian man who was always willing to help his fellow man. He will be missed by all members of his family.
