Charles Meissner Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Charles William Meissner Sr., a longtime resident of Newport News, died at St. Francis Nursing Center on Nov. 14, 2009 at age 103.
He was born in Thompsonville, Conn., grew up in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Newport News in 1945. He retired from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Langley Research Center, where he was employed as a model maker for aircraft models that were used in wind tunnel testing.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles William and Frances Taylor Meissner of Seaford, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Andrew J. Adams of Arlington, Va., a grandson, Charles Leverett Meissner; a granddaughter, Frances deLesseline Meissner, both of Austin, Texas, and sisters, Grace M. Gardner of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ruth M. Robinson of Norristown, Pa.
He will be interred at Greenmount Cemetery in Philadelphia, alongside his wife, Lydia Hetmanek Meissner. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
