Christmas MALAMI Obituary
A native of Messina, Sicily, he had been a Peninsula resident for 58 years, where he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1938-1948, then went to work as a civil servant retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Engineers' Club of the Virginia Peninsula; the Peninsula Italian American Lodge; the National Association of Federal Employees; the Alzheimer's Chapter of Southwest Virginia; and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his son, Ralph Malami; his daughter, Gracia Valliant; four grandchildren, Christopher Valliant, Michael Valliant, Melissa Malami Jones, and Amy Malami Sakell; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jennie Pistinizzi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by the Rev. Msgr. Robert Perkins. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the church with a Christian Vigil Service beginning at 6:30.

It's been 35 years since I lived in Va, but I do remember the friendship and respect that my mom and dad "Mac and Martha McBride" had for your dad.

To the family of Chris, you have our sincere sympathy. Have known Chris and his wife since many years back via The Engineers Club of the Virgina Peninsula. Since we've moved into The Chesapeake, it has been great to see him from time to time. He will surely be missed by us and many others. God Bless each of you.

Your father was a great customer of the Insurance Center of Newport News. We all loved when your dad came to visit us. He would stop by after his workout at the YMCA. I know he will be missed by everyone. He was a great person.

I am so sorry to read about Chris leaving us. He was such a wonderful man.
My sister (Sally Caldwell) and I had the pleasure to go on some good trips together. I met he and your Mother many years ago at my Sisters.
I have so many fond memories of him.
words cannot express all the wonderul things he was.
I called him last year on his birthday and he was so happy! We proably talked a hr. I did not know it was his birthday.
May you find peace and comfort in all the wonderful memories you have of this great person. RIP Chris! I love you!

About 10 days before Mr. Malami's death, I was talkng to him about a little red car he had. I remarked how pretty and sporty it was. He laughed. I will remember that laugh. I also will remember him as physically strong in his last days and saying how food today has no flavor... no personality. Mr. Malami did, 'though; he had personality. My sympathies to his family.
