Clarence Caldwell Obituary

HAMPTON - Clarence E. Caldwell, age 92, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
He was a native of Blacksburg, Va., and had been a resident of Hampton since 1960. He retired in 1988, after a 26-year career, as an electrician with NASA. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music and played the Banjo. Although never serving in the armed forces, he was proud of his country and its symbol, the American flag.
Preceding him in rest are his parents, Arthur F. and Willie Mae Caldwell; sons, Wayne Caldwell, Gary Caldwell, and Emory Caldwell; and grandsons, Timmy Caldwell and Josh Boyer.
Surviving members of his family include his wife of 72 years, Alice C. Caldwell; children, Jean Russell and husband, Bob, Aubrey Caldwell and wife, Nancy, Judy Conner and husband, Leroy, and Dennis Caldwell and wife, Linda; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grand children; one great great-grandson; and five brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to recognize and express appreciation to Susie Harris and Ricky Caldwell, both grandchildren, for their devotion and love as caregivers for Mr. Caldwell over the past years.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service celebrating Clarence's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hampton Rescue Squad.

My condolences to the entire Caldwell family.I have fond childhood memories of going to Caldwell home listening to the family play music.Also dont forget they did a radio show.

Dennis,
I was very sad to hear of your dad's passing.I have a lot of great memories from my days at NASA and the many times at Emory's house when everybody got together and played music. Your dad was a true gentleman and will truly be missed.Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts!May God be with you during this time!

I was so sorry to hear of your loss.Clarence was a dear and sweet man. I know the loss of your dad is hard. But remember the good times and all the great memories you have. You were blessed to have had him so long.God give you comfort and bless you . Clarance and I have been emailing each other for years. I am aunt Russell's grand daughter. She is was Arthur's sister. Your family is very special to me. God be with you and take care.Wished I could be with you. But know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
