Clarence TYLER Obituary
He was a native of Kentucky and a Peninsula resident since 1969. George retired from material support at Newport News Shipyard after 21-years and served 23-years in the U.S. Air force. Memories of George will include his love for family, fishing and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joyce Tyler; his children, Susan Duckett (Mike), Sandra Wood (Kelly), Gary Tyler (Diane), and Cheryl Ellis (Matt); seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and he was the oldest of eight brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the funeral home chapel, with Eddie Heath officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd, Suite A102, Newport News, VA 23606; and Personal Touch Home Care and Hospice, 735 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Suite 150, Newport News, VA 23606.

To Joyce and the Tyler family.....please accept my deepest sympayhy in your loss of this great man.I had the pleasure of knowing George and played a lot of golf with him over the years.He was a fun guy to be around and shared many jokes and one-liners.In serious times he would talk about family and how lucky he was.I feel the same for knowing George and will remember him that way.My best to all of you going forward.
