Claude Walker Obituary
He was born in Fluvanna County, Va., to the late Henry E. and Mabel H. Walker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Walker; and his sister, Nina Walker.
Claude retired from PAPCO Oil Company (formerly Gunter Oil Company), as office manager.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Walker; his sister, Louise Marrs of Newport News; sisters-in-law, Ruth Walker, and Lorraine O. Ingram, both of Newport News; brother-in-law, Alfred R. Owens Jr. of Yorktown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Denbigh Chapel of Altmeyer Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the funeral home, with interment following at Peninsula Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Peninsula Rescue Mission or Dandy Baptist Church
Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608.

Mrs Walker and Grandma Marrs......I am so sorry for your loss.......Jennifer has told me many great things about Mr. Walker.....and how he loved to joke around with family and friends.....this has been a very rough week for both sides of our family with the loss of my Father and now your Husband (Mrs Walker) and your brother (Grandma Marrs).....Maybe they will cross paths while walking the streets of gold which will give them plenty of stories and conversations to have.....May God be with you both and your families and please let Jennifer know if you need anything......Love Kenny Craig

Claude was a wonderful man with a huge heart and an uncanny sense of humor. I had the pleasure of meeting Claude & Mary 13 years ago and have been in love with them both ever since. You just couldn't be grumpy when you were around Claude! My heart aches for Mary's loss. I can't begin to express my sympathy for her and the rest of their family and friends. Anyone who knew Claude and Mary couldn't help but love them.
My prayers are with everyone who loved Claude. I am comforted in knowing he is in heaven with our Father, watching over us. Mary, I love you and will be praying for you always. God will get you through this.
