Daisy HAZEL Obituary

HAMPTON - Daisy Pearline Hazel answered the Master's call on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009. She was born in Marion, S.C., on May 2, 1928, to the late Julius Staggers and the late Flora Bell Lewis-Staggers.
Daisy accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Marion, S.C. After relocation to Newport News, Va., she became a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. Daisy graduated from Johnakin High School and attended both Morris College and Christopher Newport College. Daisy was the youngest of nine children and was joined in matrimony to Willie E. Hazel.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur, Marion, Jake, Isaac, Mary, Belle, Irene and Mattie; and two grandchildren, Justus Matthias and KeAnn Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Daisy Marie Wilder of the home in Hampton, Va., Dianne Logan (Bernard), Angeal Hazel of Hampton, Willie F. Hazel of Newport News, Va., Leatsie Matthias of Suitland, Md. and Chiquita Jones of Newport News; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Nov. 24, 2009, at the funeral home. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Zion Baptist Church, 633 20th Street, Newport News, VA.
