Danielle BYRD Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - On Christmas Day, Danielle Lynette "Tweety" Byrd met her Savior face to face after enduring a life of severe illnesses.
Danielle was born Nov. 6, 1974, to Pervis and Gwendolyn Byrd. She was the oldest and only sister of Natasha Byrd-Berkley. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and a 1993 graduate of Lafayette High School.
Danielle left a remarkable impression upon those who had the opportunity to meet her. Danielle was loved tremendously and she loved others tremendously. Danielle had a full and loving life despite a myriad of physical complications. She was full of personality, strength, faith, and courage. Danielle did more with a whole lot less. There are a number of lessons to be learned from the way she lived her life, the way she handled adversity, and the way she faced the future.
Preceding Danielle in death were her paternal grandparents, Herman Byrd and Mary Ratcliffe Byrd; her paternal step-grandmother, Dorothy Holmes Byrd; her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Edna Bailey Clayton; her granny, Blanche Crew; a devoted uncle, Henderson Bartlett; and a loving feline son, Casey Matthew Isaiah Byrd.
To cherish her precious memories, Danielle leaves behind her beloved and devoted parents, Pervis and Gwendolyn Byrd; a loving and devoted sister, Natasha Byrd-Berkley; a devoted brother-in-law, Tony Berkley; two special feline sons, David Matthew Byrd and Timothy Isaiah Byrd; seven aunts, Gracie Clayton, Gail Clayton, Gina Clayton, Sharon Byrd, Teresa Louden (James), Jean Byrd, and Fannie Bartlett; five uncles, Clarence Clayton, Joseph (Jacqueline) Clayton, Joel Clayton, Alvin Clayton (Elva), Herman Byrd Jr. (Christine); devoted god-parents, Marjorie Crew, Bertha Crew, and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Canady; a number of great-uncles and great-aunts including several devoted great-aunts, Lucy Robertson, Hazel Byrd, and Mary Robinson; uncle Ed and aunt Bernice Owens; numerous cousins including two special cousins, AJ Clayton and Tamiya Lunsford; along with other relatives, and friends.
The family wishes to thank Blue Ridge Services; Colonial Service Board; The Arc of Greater Williamsburg; Dr. John Ward; the 11th floor staff of MCV's ICU, Tina Hill, Bernetta, Christine, and Emily; The Doctor's Clinic; Sentara Williamsburg Reg. Med. Ctr.; and Personal Touch Homecare, Shawntae, Cathy, and Miss Tracey.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Whiting's Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot, Va., with the Rev. Horace Suber officiating. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
Professional Services entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, 757-229-3011. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
