Dear Shermaine, You've been gone almost two weeks now and this huge hole in my heart has grown even larger. I miss you so much. I don't think my tears will ever stop. Everyday, I speak of you in conversation, I call your name, I pick up the phone to call you and at night, I wait for you to call me. When I realize that you won't be doing these things anymore, it makes my heart burn with tears. But then I realize if I must suffer this way, then we truly were best sisters....best friends!!! I will always love you. Remember, if you ever need me, just reach down and hold my hand like we've alway done. All my love, Sissy

To husband Victor, sons Lemont and Brian, Geraldine, Louis, Kevin and all the family - we extend our deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers. I was fortunate to have spoken with Shermaine at Ebeneezer Church's Homecoming a few years ago. We had not seen each other since high school. Shermaine's smile and expressions were radiant as she spoke lovingly about her family. It was obvious how proud she is of her sons. May family and friends find peace through the special love and comfort that only God can give.

Ms. Sheri, Thank you for sharing your love with us. We remember so many fun things you did with us...like playing the card game "Old Maid" with us when we were much younger. Wow how you hated to get the "Old Maid" card. We will alway treasure you and how much you cared about us. We will always love and remember you. We thank God for sharing you with us.

Shermaine you are more than an aunt to me. You are my friend and I miss you so much! I try to find comfort in being with you when you passed away. We will always have a special bond and I don't know how to come to terms with losing you. All I can say is that you are one of the most beautiful people that I know and me and my kids will always remember you light hearted spirit and your bravery in fighting that awful cancer. I love you and the time we spent before you last got sick is so special to me. I wish I could turn back the hands of time and make things better because you did not deserve to suffer as you did, but now you are free of pain and suffering and I am so glad that I was there w/ you and prayed and sang to you as you went home! Forever missing and loving you- Your niece,

Working side-by-side with Sheri was an uplifting experience on a daily basis. Her enthusiasm and genuine care for everyone who walked in our door or phoned our office was inspiring. Many days she suffered with pain, but no one ever knew because she never complained. I am proud that my coworker became my friend. Sheri appreciated and exuberated in all things…whether it was a visiting baby, a 7-11 brownie, a fabulous thrift store find, a trip back to Matthews, a lunch time nap, or a new flower or plant. Sheri was the master of enjoying simple pleasures. As we move into a world without Sheri, let us follow her example by sprinkling simple pleasures into our lives. Savor each moment, and think about Sheri, who taught us so much about enjoying life.

To Vicky, the Anderson family, & the Parrot family:

I too have been deeply saddened upon hearing of Shermaine's illness, & now her passing. She was truly a beautiful & loving person. However, as others have shared with you, pls take solace in knowing that she's undoubtedly been ushered to a better place & is under the watchful care of our Master, experiencing no more pain or suffering. I will fondly and forever remember her upbeat spirit, her sheepish grins like the co-worker spoke of in a prior Guest entry, and genuine care for others. We'll all cherish memories of her, & thank God for placing her in our lives. My deepest sympathy, love & prayers to entire family. May God comfort us all, 'til we meet with her again in His presence.

To the Anderson and Parrott Family,
As Shermaine has entered
her eternal home above -
Heavens gate has opened
to welcome her with love.
Thou we cannot help the tears that fall -
Yes our hearts need time to grieve
when an earthly life has ended
and a loved one has to leave.
Yet even at this saddest time,
we know our Savior lives,
and we can trust completely
in the promises that He gives -
that in a glad reunion with the Lord
our loved ones wait to welcome us
in joy with no more tears
beyond the gate!
Love and prayer to you all,
Edith Turner

To the Anderson Family

May God give you comfort, peace and abundant love at this time of need. It was truly a blessing to get to know Sister Shermaine over the past few years. She always presented herself as a woman with a beautiful spirit and lovely smile. She also had lots of creative ideas. She openly expressed her faith in God and was very compassionate of others. God gave her the ultimate blessing and reached out and healed her for all eternity.

Sheri and I worked together at the CSB. Over the years we shared many, many laughs and an occasional tear sprinkled in here and there. She always made me laugh with her quick smile and her questions. She knew the answers - she just wanted to make sure I did!

Staff and consumers alike loved Miss Sheri. She always spoke even if she saw you ten times a day. Sheri took the time to ask you how you were doing and she waited for an answer. Talking with Sheri always made you feel like what you had to say at that moment truly was important. I have watched her many times comfort someone having a really hard day or working though a rough patch in their life. Sheri cared about people - all people.

There were many times when Sheri and I would get to laughing by just looking at each other! She would get ready to ask me one of her questions and instead burst out laughing. She and I could not figure out why we were never considered to be on the front page of a fashion magazine - not that the coffee spot we had on a shirt or a run in a pair of panty hose had anything to do with it!

Sheri so loved little children. She knew the names and ages of my daughter, my nieces and my nephew and always asked about them. She often spoke about holding the babies of her family members and how sweet those babies smelled! One of Sheri's dreams was to hold her own grandbaby and I am so sorry she will never get that chance.

I miss you my Friend. I miss your smile, your quick laugh, your caring ways, and all of the laughs we shared together. But I have all of the memories. I won't hesitate to pull one of those to the front of my mind when I think about you. I know you would want me to laugh and relish the time we shared as friends.

To Sheri's family - thanks so much for sharing with us such a beautiful person. May God bless you and may you find great comfort in knowing that Sheri touched so many lives and that she loved all of us...
