Danny PETTAWAY Obituary
Danny was born Sept. 28, 1954, in Rocky Mount, N.C., to the late Johnnie Walter Pettaway and Ella Ruth Graham- Pettaway(Staton). Joe was the third of nine children.
Joe graduated from Carver High School, Newport News, Va., in 1972, after which he joined the U.S. Army. After the military, Joe returned to Newport News, where he gained employment with the Newport News Shipyard and Dominion Site Work.
Danny Joe Pettaway leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Michelle Wilkes-Hood (Phillip) of Newport News Va.; two grandsons, Phillip and Rayshaun; two brothers, Tony Pettaway (Vernice) Of Virginia Beach, Va., and Johnnie Walter Pettaway Jr.; five sisters, Janice Manson of Newport News, Va., Geneva Warren of Newport News, Va., Elois Scott (Michael) of Hampton, Va., Joyce Pettaway of Atlanta, Ga., and Karen Council (David) of Newport News, Va.; a special aunt, Mary Dickens of Hampton. Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home, Inc., 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton Va. Viewing will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services on Tuesday.
