NEWPORT NEWS - MSgt Daryl A. Wilson, 42, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Daryl was born May 26, 1968 in Oklahoma City, Okla., and had been a resident of Newport News, Va., since 2001. Daryl joined the United States Air Force in September 1987 and served his country proudly until his retirement as Master Sergeant at Langley AFB, Va., in December 2007.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 20 years, Sherry Wilson; and a precious daughter, Makahlia Wilson, both of Newport News; his parents, Charles and Chestine Wilson; sister, Celestine Wilson; brothers, Michael, Marlon and Terrance Wilson, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

There are truly no words which could properly describe what I feel at this time. When I met Daryl three years ago when he and Sherry came into our clinic for the first time, little did I know that our friendship would grow the way it had. I was truly blessed by knowing him. I am grateful to the Lord for allowing our paths to cross. You were one of the strongest, most determined fighters I've ever met. Sherry and Makahalia will truly miss having you in their lives. However, they will always hold dear to the memories the three of you have shared for twenty years of marriage. I'll miss you my dear friend, but I know the Lord saw that you were suffering and He called you home to be at rest. Until we meet again.....
