David RICHWINE Obituary

LEXINGTON - On Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, David (Dave) Andrew Richwine passed away at the Benjamin Borden Health Center in Lexington, Va., after a long struggle with his health.
Dave was born on March 24, 1930, to the late Edson Douglas and Katherine Lohr Richwine of Urbanna, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice Richwine of Lexington, Va.; and their children, Amy and husband, Dan of Lexington, Va., Beth and husband, Randy of Takoma Park, Md., David and wife, Liliana of Yorktown, Va.; four grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Irene Horkott; and his brother, Donald Richwine and his family of Urbanna, Va.
Dave grew up in Urbanna, Va., and graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1955. He lived in York County, Va., until 1995. During much of this time, he worked at the York County Health Department and was an active member of Rotary International. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and singing at the local hootenanny, but his favorite activities were boating, fishing and sharing the tales of these adventures with his friends and grandchildren. In 1995, Dave and Alice moved to Lexington, Va., to enjoy retirement and views of the mountains. In 2008, they moved into the retirement community of Kendal at Lexington.
Dave's ashes will be spread at the Grace Episcopal Church memorial garden in Yorktown, Va., at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26. An informal remembrance reception at the Parish Hall will follow.
Contributions in Dave's name can be made to the Kendal Staff Appreciation Fund, 160 Kendal Drive, Lexington, VA 24450 or Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Alice and Family

I had the pleasure of working with Dave for many years at the York/Poquoson Health Department. We had a lot of good laughs there and many good lunches at Joe & Mimmas. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Mr Richwine was always an enjoyable part of my job at Joe & Mimma's Restaurant in Grafton. Even after he retired, I always looked forward to visits from him with friends and family at the restaurant when he was in the area. My thoughts go out to his family.
