David LAWRENCE Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - David Columbus Lawrence, 78, was called home on April 27, 2010.
David was born in Edgecombe, N.C., on Nov. 10, 1931, son of the late Willie and Della Lawrence. He grew up in Edgecombe, was educated in the North Carolina School System, and later relocated to Newport News, where he worked at the Newport News Shipyard and retired from Best Transmission.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Rosa Lee Johnson Osborne Lawrence; one daughter, Marlyn Faye Jones (Darrlyn) of Newport News; two sons, Levon Staton of North Carolina, and Marvin Lawrence of Hampton; one sister, Willie B. Robertson of Philadelphia; nine stepchildren; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and one special niece, Earnestine Chance (Melvin). Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, May 4, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1129 33rd Street, Newport News. Interment will be at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Please accept our condolences in the loss of your father and husband.His daughter and son are first cousins to our childern.Although we had not seen him in a number of years, we hate to hear of the loss of family members.Because death is so final and invasive. in our lives.
