David JONES Obituary
David was raised in Opelika, Ala. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his 26 years of service, he was in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement, he worked as a civil servant for 20 years at Langley Air Force Base. He became a member of the Langley Gospel Service (formerly Chapel 3). He was a devoted member of the Chapel, serving as a Deacon, Usher and Sunday school teacher. Deacon Jones found joy in serving the LORD and discipling others in their Christian walk.
David was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his wife of 33 years, Sarah H. Jones; his children, Mary F. Jones, David R. Jones Jr. (Jennifer), Lonita Jones, Jimmy L. Jones (LaKita), Denise Jones, (their mother Henrietta Jones), Jacqueline Jones, Shonna Johnson (Wallace), and Kimberly Artis-Borden (Thomas). He leaves 12 grandchildren, including one grandson whom he assisted in rearing, Xavier D. Jones (Caralyn); and six great-grandchildren. A host of relatives and friends also remain to cherish his memory.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple, 3100 Butternut Drive, Hampton.
Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. today, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Tradition, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, with family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Sister Sarah and the Family of Deacon David Jones. We are so blessed to have shared great memories with you over the years - all rising from our love in pursuing God at the Langley Air Force Base Gospel Service. We have so many heartfelt and beautiful memories that will stay in our hearts for a lifetime. Whenever we had a chance to be in the presence of Deacon Jones, we felt like the Apostle Paul sitting at the feet of Gamaliel. We thank God for you and the relationship He has allowed us to have. Mr. Jones is one of the nicest, most honorable men I've known. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jones and grew up living beside him and his family. I remember his smile and laugh very well.
