HAMPTON - Delores M. Barger, 77, died Friday, January 3, 2014, surrounded by her family. She fought a brave and courageous battle against cancer. A native of Grand Haven, MI, she had been a Hampton resident since 1969. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and very active with the Knight Cappers. She also served many years with the City of Hampton and retired as Deputy Commissioner of Revenue. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lamar J. Barger; survivors include her children, Richard A. Barger and his wife, Fran, James E. Barger and his wife, Kathy, Lorraine A. King and her husband, Michael and Brian J. Barger; four grandchildren, Meredith and Kevin King and Haley and Erin Barger; her sister, Caroline McFadden; her brother, Thomas Puleo and his wife, Trudy; and many special nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00pm Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 8:00. The family will be at 165 A Atlantic Avenue, Hampton at other times.
