Donald GORBY Obituary
TOANO - Donald (Ray) Gorby died Saturday Oct. 22, 2011. He was 74 years old.
Ray was born in Paris, Pa. He grew up in Toronto, Ohio, until he joined the Army when he was 18 years old. After three years in the Army, he married his wife, Marylou Hill, and moved to California. From California, he moved to Virginia, where he spent the remaining part of his life.
Ray spent 54 years of his life as a barber and 40 years barbering in Williamsburg, Va. While in Virginia, Ray joined the Air National Guard, where he spent 13 years. Ray enjoyed riding his Harley in his spare time and made many trips on his Harley that included Sturgis, S.D., Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Daytona Beach, Fla. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, and working out in his garage.
Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marylou Gorby of Toano, Va.; his son, Kenneth D. Gorby of Williamsburg, Va.; his daughter, Deborah L. Cole and husband, Bruce C. Cole; two grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Cole of Toano, Va.; and his daughter, Lisa V. Gorby of Williamsburg, Va.
Friends will be received at the Bucktrout Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the and the Diabetes Foundation.
God came and took an angel. Ray had a heart of gold and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
