NEWPORT NEWS - Doris Mable Wilmouth Jones, 80, passed away February 1, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall and sister Maude Dunaway of Keysville, VA. She was born on June 30,1933 in Charlotte Court House, VA. After marrying Marshall they spent a lifetime of buying and selling cars, furniture and a multitude of antiques. Together they spent over 45 years collecting. Doris worked at the Newmarket store for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) and retired after more than 30 years of service. After retirement she began to build houses and of the 5 completed she built 3 on her own as the general contractor. Her hard work ethic was unmatchable, her thriftiness exceptional and there was not anything she could not do. She always had a positive outlook with lots of spunk and drive. She is survived by her loving sons Dennis M. Jones and wife Christina, Scotty L. Jones, beloved daughter Lisa L. Jones. Grandchildren Bryan, Stacey, Lindsey, Joshua and Sarah and great-grandchildren Skylar, Abigail, Gracelyn, Colton, and Madelyn. Sisters Grace Bashara, Lorraine Hauser, brother Mickey Wilmouth and many nieces and nephews. The family will celebrate her life on Sunday, February 16, 2014, 2pm at 100 Riverside Drive, Newport News, VA. The family welcomes all who wish to attend.
