Dorothy CHAPMAN Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Dorothy M. Tynes Chapman, 84, of Newport News, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Chapman; her parents, Jasper P. Tynes and Molly Goodman Tynes; sisters, Pearl Thomas (Waverly), Thelma Tynes, Mildred Furbert; and brothers, Jasper and Moses.
She was a lifelong resident of Newport News. In her early years she worked at the BX at Langley Air Force Base. She was a past member of Six Mount Zion Baptist (Temple) Church where she served in the J. M. Ownes Chorus.
She is survived by daughters, Jamie L. Mills of Newport News and Brenda L. Henderson (Garry) of Hampton; two granddaughters, LaVista Williams, Kayla Williams; one grandson, Garry Henderson Jr.; one great-grandson, three nieces and five nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at M. E. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel. A repast will follow at the fellowship hall at Second Baptist Church East End, 3301 Chestnut Ave., Newport News, Va.
The family wishes to thank Riverside Hospice for all their assistance. They would also like to thank the Doctors and staff of the Peninsula Cancer Institute, Riverside Cancer Care Center and Riverside Gynecologic Oncology.
