Douglas BROWN Obituary
Doug, born Jan. 3, 1963, in Coronado, Calif., was predeceased by his mother, Mary Ann Brown and survived by his father, Joseph W. Brown; and three brothers and their wives, David and Deborah Brown of Clemmons, N.C., Andrew and Sharon Brown of Stuttgart, Germany, and Jeffrey and Ruby Brown of Gloucester. Douglas was dearly loved and admired by his family, church and friends. His unselfish example to his family was deeply inspiring.
The family would be honored to receive the fellowship of family and friends on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at Andrews Funeral Home in Gloucester from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at Singleton United Methodist Church in Ware Neck, Gloucester, at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. A private burial will be held at a later date at Singleton United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to the medical professionals of the Medical Respiratory ICU at MCV as well as the doctors and nurses of the Emergency Center at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, all of whom selflessly cared for Douglas.
Memorial donations may be made to Singleton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

Dear Brown family. I send you my deepest sympathy on the death of Douglas. Speaking for all the MRICU staff who cared for him we feel a sense of loss. Even though the extent of disease was far advanced, we felt we had a fighting chance. It became clear as the days passed that it was not to be. When every time we discussed Mr. Brown's care plans the one topic that kept rising above all others was how great a family you are and how you totally rallied around Mr. Brown and how dedicated to him you were.
