Earlee K. BROWN Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Earlee Katherine Byrd Brown answered the call of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012.
Her long and blessed life journey began on May 10, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Mary Alice Radcliff Byrd and the late John Byrd of Williamsburg, Va.
At a very early age, she accepted Christ into her life and became a faithful member of First Baptist Church, on Scotland Street. She served her church as a Sunday school teacher and for many years as a member of the choir. She loved her church family and found tremendous joy in the special bond she had with her church family and her choir members. She was formerly employed by Casey's Department Store and the College of William & Mary.
Even at the age of 100, she delighted the nurses and caregivers at the Consulate Heath Care Center with her wonderful rendition of 'Amazing Grace.' Earlee was also a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Stars and a member of the Pride of Grove #181, for many years. She found so much joy and comfort by nurturing all who readily accepted her love. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, William W. Brown Sr.; a son, William W. "Billy" Brow, Jr.; and her sister, Leola P. Byrd-Major.
She leaves to treasure her blessed memory, her son, Pernell N. Brown (Bessie); and her daughter, Carolyn-Brown-Shird (Rodney); her 11 grandchildren, her 22 great-grandchildren, her 16 great great-grandchildren, a host of cousins and her dearly loving and caring friends.
A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 727 Scotland Street, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald F. Davis officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 4508 Timber Lane by 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Brown may be viewed only on Saturday in the church beginning at 9 a.m., until the hour of her service.
