Edna Reichle Obituary

YORKTOWN - Edna E. Reichle, 93, of York County, Va., passed away on Oct. 21, 2009 at 7 p.m.
She was born Feb. 10, 1916, in St. Clair County, Mich., on a dairy farm where she grew up with her seven brothers and sisters during the great depression. She married her husband Henry G. Reichle on Feb. 8, 1936. In 1977, she moved with her husband to York County to be near her two sons, Henry G. Reichle Jr. and Donald J. Reichle. A lifelong Lutheran, she and her husband were among the earliest members of St. Mark Lutheran Church in York County.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years.
She is survived by one sister, Ida Flanders of Yorktown; two sons, Henry G. Reichle Jr. (Geraldine) of Mathews, and Donald J. Reichle (Carol) of York County; a daughter, Donna L. Bannerman (Douglas) of DeLand, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She believed strongly in her church, her family, hard work, education and a good time. She will be missed by many.
The family extends it's sincere thanks to the personnel of the Walter Reed Convalescent Center-Mathews and the Walter Reed Hospital for their compassion and help during the last months and days of her life.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. and refreshments will be served at the church immediately following the funeral service. A family interment will take place at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that memorial donations be made to the York County Fire & Rescue/Life & Safety, P.O. Box 532, Yorktown, VA 23692; St. Mark Lutheran Church, 118 Old York Hampton Highway, Yorktown, VA 23692; or the charitable organization of your choice. Hank, Don and family, Ginger and I are thinking of all of you as you grieve and adjust to your lives without Edna. I remember her and Henry's 50th anniversary party (seems like 50 years ago!) where she out-partied us all. What great parents you had and they will never be forgotten.
