Edward JONES Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Edward Lee Jones, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at his home.
He was born on Gwynn's Island, June 2, 1926, and had been a resident of Gloucester for 61 years. He served in the Navy during World War II, and then worked at civil service for 36 years. Edward was a self taught watchmaker. He was a very loving, kind and generous man to his family and friends. He loved fishing and when he caught one everyone knew because he would holler "I got one of the boys."
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, George Edward and Esther Foster Jones of Gwynn's Island.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Alice Vernell Jones; two daughters, Esther Lee McFarland and husband, Jimmy of Mathews, Gwen Ross and husband, Gerry of Gloucester; four grandchildren, Brian McFarland and wife, Sharon, Duane McFarland and wife, Michele, Troy Buckland, and Heather Buckland; and two great-grandchildren, Shi Garn and Shelbe McFarland.
Graveside funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Thomas Bunting, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
